The Giant and the Hag

Outside "Eiðiskollur" are two detached rocks called the Giant (75 meter) and the Hag (73 meter). The old saga about the rocks tells, that long time ago, Iceland wanted to move the Faroes to Iceland. The two of them, the Giant and the Hag, were send to the Faroes to drag the islands to Iceland. They tried to drag the islands, but didn't succed in the first attempt. The Giant was staying in the water, but the Hag went up on the mountain to tie the rope, used to drag the islands, more fasten. Unfortunately the islands were so well established and the time was running from the strong married couple. The day was dawning and as the couple were children of the dark, the Hag hurried back in the water towards her husbound. When she reached him the day broke, and the Giant and the Hag were transformed into two rocks, now looking towards the land from which they came from, unable to move.
