The Museum in Eiði
The old farmehouse "Látralonin" was
build in 1850 by Pól á Látrinum, a rich farmer in the Faroe Islands.
21 people lived in the house and usually 6-10 servants. The living room
contains 4 bunk beds (with room for two persons in each). You entered
the loft from the living room, so it was not necessary to walk through
the
glass room (the finest room in the house) to get to the
loft. The spinning wheel was in the living room, where all the everyday
life occurred (food preparartion, knitting etc.). The Glass room is the
only room in the house with glass windows, and was used to receive visitors
in the house. From the Glass room is a smaller room, which was used by the farmer
couple as sleeping room.
