The local football club EB/Streymur is a merger between the football department of Eiðis Bóltfelag and Streymur. Both clubs had struggled in the lower divisions of Faroese football and in the spring of 1993, a desicion was made to merge the two clubs into one. The merged club has since become a household name in The Faroe Islands, winning two championships and four cups.

Eiðis Bóltfelag

Today Eiðis bóltfelag plays youth handball exclusively. The history of the club however, goes back over a century. It was on the 23th of february 1913 that ” Ejdes Boldklub” was established. For the first 4 decades the club dedicated all its time to football entirely. but as the second world war broke out handball became popular in the village. In the first senior season of 1947, the team won their first and only national handball championship.
