
ACTIVE OCTOBER (VIRKIN OKTOBER) IS NOW AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH
Due to a request, the Faroese Health Authority has created an English edition of Virkin oktober (Active October).
With three calendars – for children, young people, and adults – Active October offers 31 daily ideas to be active physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually throughout the month.
Being active in various ways brings energy, joy, and connection with others. Active October is based on the three messages of ABC for Mental Health (Act Belong Commit): Act – do something active, Belong – do something with someone, and Commit – do something meaningful. These messages are good and simple tools to strengthen and protect the mental health of both ourselves and others.
Active October encourages small changes in daily life, showing how little actions can make a big difference.
Blank calendars are also available so you can add your own activities, tailored to your interests and life situation.
It’s up to you how you use the calendar: follow the suggestions every day, dip in occasionally, or simply take inspiration for your own ideas. Remember — the little things count, and the more ways you stay active, the better it is for your mental health.
Even though it’s already October 8, there’s still plenty of time to join in and enjoy Active October for the rest of the month.
