Waste management
Eiðis kommuna prides itself on trying its utmost to keep the three villages as clean and presentable as possible.
In 1999, Eiði won the title of the cleanest village in The Faroe Islands and ever since then, people have aimed to replicate those standards.
Municipal solid waste (domestic waste) is retrieved by IRF, the Faroese intermunicipal waste management company, every tuesday morning. The IRF provide you with bags to be used for domestic waste.
In case of industrial waste, you are urged to inform IRF by calling them at 414243.
In the harbour area of Eiði, there is an area designated for recyclement. It is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 17:00 to 19:00 and every Saturday from 14:00 to 17:00.
